Amanda + Phil
Ceremony: South Eastern Christian Centre, Endeavour Hills
Photos: Rowville Lake, Rowville + Sherbrooke Forest, Dandenong Ranges
Reception: The Cuckoo Restaurant, Olinda
Amanda and Phil's wedding was a beautiful one; full of love, happiness and a palpable excitement and joy of finding one another. I already knew the groom, being the brother of one of my closest friends, so photographing the wedding was a particularly enjoyable one having already met a large proportion of the guests!
It started off at the bride's house in Rowville, a suburb located south east of Melbourne and not too far from the beautiful Dandenong Ranges. It was a relaxed vibe there, with just the bride getting ready with the help of her mum, and the bridesmaids arrived halfway though having got ready at a friend's house. There were lots of ooh's and ahh's as they came in and saw Amanda looking fabulous just as makeup finished! I spent some time taking some detail photographs of the beautiful silk bouquets made by the groom's mother. The bride's bouquet had some jewels throughout, which I absolutely adored! It added a special touch of glamour.
After a few pre-ceremony family portraits, I headed off to the church where the ceremony was to be held. The weather was pretty perfect - warm, but not too hot and sunny but still with enough cloud cover for beautiful gentle sunlight. The ceremony started just after midday, and like all weddings, happened pretty fast! Before we knew it; the bride and bridesmaids had arrived, the groom was all set and waiting up front and Amanda was walking down the aisle. They had decorated the stage with a black cloth with sparkly fairy lights all over it, which added a magical touch.
They had a quick afternoon tea after the ceremony, and then some family formals, and then we all headed off to the first of two photoshoot locations. The first of which was Rowville Lake, which is a pretty little park situated within the suburbs. It has some picturesque little spots, with these lovely willow trees which overhang the lake. Onwards from here, we headed up to the Dandenong Ranges and to Sherbrooke Forest, a spot within the ranges we had picked out earlier. The Dandenong Ranges itself is full of amazing spots; including Puffing Billy, Alfred Nicholas Memorial Gardens, Cloudehill Garden & Nursery and The 1000 Steps. It also has a a few amazing spots for wedding ceremonies and receptions: Poet's Lane, Lyrebird Falls, Tatra Receptions and of course, The Cuckoo Restaurant where we headed to later.
It's always beautiful shooting outside in nature, and this forest was particularly magical. It was quiet, except for a few walkers passing through, and at about 4pm in mid-autumn April the afternoon sun provided lots of wonderful opportunities. So romantic! We spent awhile here meandering around and enjoying the photos, before heading to The Cuckoo Restaurant in Olinda for the reception. The atmosphere there was wonderful, and there was dancing and games and speeches, and you could see all the guests were having a great time.
Overall, it was a great day and I wish Amanda and Phil all the happiness in the world!
