Stacey + Matthew
Ceremony & Reception: Avalon Castle - Dandenong Ranges, Melbourne
Photos: Nobelius Heritage Park, Emerald
Highschool sweethearts Stacey and Matthew got married on a lovely summer's day in the Dandenong Ranges, about an hour outside Melbourne. The two of them met in 2003 through Stacey's cousin, who just happened to be one of Matt's best friends. Things were rekindled again in 2011 when their paths happened to cross, and from there their future began!
The day began at the picturesque Avalon Castle in Cockatoo, situated down a little dirt road nestled in the Dandenong Ranges. The bridal party got ready in the accommodation on-site, which made everything super easy. Stacey and Matthew wanted to do a first look, to ease Matt's nerves a little and to take out one anxiety causing aspect! I had never shot one before and it was so much fun, and definitely helped everyone relax. After the first look, we took a few quick photos around Avalon Castle gardens, then we all went off to nearby Nobelius Heritage Park in Emerald (right near Puffing Billy) for a photoshoot. It's such a gorgeous area - lots of trees and greenery! The Dandenong Ranges, and also the Yarra Valley just next door, is an amazing array of landscape for photography.
The ceremony at Avalon Castle was beautiful, and Stacey practically floated down the aisle with her dad by her side. I loved seeing all their friends and family, and what lovely bunch of people they have surrounding them. One of my favourite things about weddings is witnessing all the love, joy and relationships people have with each other! It's good to be reminded that there are plenty of wonderful things left in this world.
Stacey and Matthew's reception was a blast, with the highlight being the shoe game. I had heard of it before but I had never actually seen it in action! Basically, the couple are asked a series of questions while sitting back to back and holding each others shoes, and have to answer "me or them" by holding up a shoe. It provides plenty of laughter from both the couple and the guests, as you can see from the photos below!
